Industry-Related Hours

All undergraduate students in the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) are required to complete a minimum of 250 industry-related hours prior to entering the course Senior Professional Development. Students that entered STHM after Fall 2017 should complete four different experiences. Any students that started prior to Fall 2017 should complete seven different experiences.

Industry-related hours consist of volunteer opportunities provided by Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD), part-time employment relative to the fields of study and any internship hours beyond the minimum requirements. Students are not able to use internships that require academic credit for industry-related hours. Industry-Related Hours are a non-credit requirement so we are not able to provide any organization with a verification letter of credit. Please be careful when applying for internships that do not require academic credit unless you have been approved to complete Internship I or Internship II.

Upon entering Senior Professional Development, students must have a portfolio of accumulated hours. The portfolio should consist of signed industry-related hours forms from the organizations students volunteered with to verify the hours completed.
