Please note that the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management holds graduation ceremonies for each graduation cycle. The May STHM Graduation Ceremony is held the same day as the University Commencement. The August STHM Graduation Ceremony is usually held in either August or September. The December STHM Graduation Ceremony is usually held in either January or February.
All undergraduates and graduates are required to apply for graduation online. To access the application, log into TUPortal, and click Self Service Banner (SSB). Once in Self Service Banner, click on Student Records — Apply to Graduate and follow the instructions. Before submitting, verify that all your program information is listed correctly on your application — your major(s), minor(s), and certificates. Please be sure that your name is spelled and punctuated exactly as you want it to appear on your diploma. If all of your information is correct, submit your application. If any information is incorrect, please contact your advisor before submitting your application. If you have submitted a graduation application through Self-Service Banner, click on View Graduation Application and review the information to be sure that it is correct.
Graduation Application Deadlines:
- The deadline for applying for May graduation is February 1.
- The deadline for applying for July graduation is May 18.
- The deadline for applying for December graduation is November 15.
Petition to Walk
Students who have not yet completed all degree requirements may wish to participate in the graduation ceremony. These students must be within two courses (a maximum of 8 credits) to petition for participation. Please review the Petition to Walk document for the guidelines under which students may be allowed to participate.
Latin Honors are awarded based on estimation procedures that are intended to yield 2% Summa, 5% Magna, and 9% Cum Laude awards for baccalaureate recipients from each Temple school and college. Graduates who have completed at least 60 credits at Temple are eligible for the appropriate honor if their cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is equal to or greater than the cut-off value established for the honor.
Information regarding senior portraits for the Templar yearbook will be sent out directly by the University. Senior portraits are taken by Prestige by Lifetouch. Information can be found on the Templar’s website at http://templaryearbook.com/about-templar/faq-2016-graduation/. Instructions are received starting in the summer prior to your graduating year.
If you have not had your senior portrait taken with Prestige by December of your graduating year, you will not make the publication deadline to be in that year’s book.
