Athletic Innovation, Research, and Education Lab

Advancing the College Athlete Experience through Holistic Development and Innovative Practices

Founded in 2025 and initially supported by funding from the Office of Vice President for Research, The Athletic Innovation, Research, and Education (AIRE) Lab is an initiative housed in the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) in partnership with Temple Athletics. The AIRE Lab aims to revolutionize how athletic departments operate by integrating cutting-edge academic research with real-world applications, transforming the college athlete experience, optimizing performance, and fostering holistic development from an equitable perspective. The lab serves as a think tank and practical hub, merging robust and innovative education, high-impact student development practices, sport science, leadership, psychology, sociology, and data analytics to address the complexities of modern athletics.

The AIRE Lab’s mission is to drive innovation in the management of athletic programs and college athlete development. By turning theory into practice, the AIRE Lab empowers Temple University’s Athletic Department to lead in creating sustainable models that maximize the college athlete experience, performance, and well-being, while preparing them for success beyond their sports careers.
