Dr. Taylor joined STHM in 2017, upon the completion of her doctoral studies at the University of Tennessee. In 2024 she was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure.
Dr. Taylor’s work broadly centers on organizational culture and well-being within the sport industry, specifically as it relates to sport employees and athletes. Her work has examined gender discrimination and homophobia; sexual harassment and sexual assault education; and harassment of female faculty members. Additionally, her work has looked at the work experiences of sport employees including work-family interface, work addiction and engagement and burnout. Through this work Dr. Taylor and her colleagues have had the opportunity to engage with intercollegiate athletic department leadership across the country in attempts to foster positive workplace cultures within the industry.
Dr. Taylor has presented her research at over 120 national and international conferences and published 66 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly, Journal of Intercollegiate Sport, Sport Management Education Journal and Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism Education. Dr. Taylor is a NASSM Research Fellow, Sport Management Education Journal Fellow, College Sport Research Institute Research Fellow, and has won the best paper award in both Sport Management Education Journal and Journal of Intercollegiate Sport.
Taylor earned her PhD in Kinesiology and Sport Studies with a concentration in Sport Management at the University of Tennessee, where she also obtained a Master of Science degree in Statistics and a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies and College Teaching. She received a Master’s of Kinesiology and Health with an emphasis in Sport Psychology from Miami University where she also served as an Assistant Volleyball Coach and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she played volleyball and ran track.
