Dr. Bradley Baker is an Assistant Professor in the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) at Temple University. Baker joined the Temple faculty in 2021 after two years in a similar position at the University of Massachusetts. His research focuses on consumer behavior and digital sport management, primarily brand building and identity formation in mediated spaces including social media, esports, and other contexts at the intersection of technology and sport, while in the classroom he primarily teaches sports analytics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has published articles in the Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly, Psychological Science, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, among other outlets. He is a co-founder of D5ai, a start-up conducting research into algorithmic advances in artificial intelligence and deep learning, where his inventions have led to over a dozen patents.
Dr. Baker earned a Bachelor of Science from Johns Hopkins University with a double major in computer science and mathematical sciences. He earned a Master of Science in Sport and Recreation Management and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Temple University. His research contributions have been recognized by being inducted as a Research Fellow by the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) in 2022, winning the STHM/Fox Faculty Three-Minute Research competition in 2024, and winning the 2017 Ignite Presentation Competition from the Sport Marketing Association. He also received a 2022 Emerald Literati Award as Outstanding Reviewer of the Year (International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship), the NASSM Reviewer of the Year award in 2021 and 2022, and the 2021 Best Conference Reviewer award from the European Association for Sport Management. He is on the editorial boards for Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly, Sport Marketing Quarterly, International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship and the Journal of Electronic Gaming and Esports.
