Dr. Arturo Jaime Morales, Jr. is an Assistant Professor of Research in the School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management at Temple University.
Dr. Morales is a first-generation scholar. His doctoral research examined the sporting experiences of Latina/o/x/e program leaders of a sport-based youth development organization in the northeast. Using Testimonio as a critical methodological approach, testimonialistas shared how their sports participation experiences interlinked with their own sense of Latinidad. He has presented his work at the annual conferences of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport (NASSS), the Latino Studies Association (LSA), and the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE). Dr. Morales is a former Dean’s Doctoral Scholar (University of Connecticut), Holmes Scholar (AACTE), and winner of the 2025 Dissertation Funding Competition (Holmes Preconference) and the 2019 Gary A. Sailes Graduate Diversity Award (NASSS).
Dr. Morales earned his Ph.D. in Learning, Leadership, and Educational Policy with a concentration in Sport Management from the University of Connecticut. He also holds a Master of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Management, both from the University of Tennessee, and a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, both from the University of Colorado.
