STHM Exchange Programs
Tourism, hospitality, sport and recreation are global industries. Study abroad programs are a part of the Temple experience. The skills acquired from a study abroad experience are of value to the aforementioned industries. All students are strongly encouraged to participate.
Amsterdam University of Applied Science – Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Amsterdam University of Applied Science (AUAS) is located in Amsterdam, the capital and most populous city of the Netherlands.

The city is one of the top financial centers of Europe and the cultural capital of the Netherlands. In 2012, it was ranked the world’s second best city to live and in 2009, it was ranked the world’s third most innovative.
The university began offering a 4-year English undergraduate program in International Sports, Management and Business (ISMB) in 2011. The program emphasizes the international and entrepreneurial aspects of the sport industry. These theories are put to practice by requiring three internships in different countries for a variety of sport organizations and a 6-month project creating and implementing an original business idea.
The campus itself is located on Amsterdam’s largest sports complex, Ookmeer Sport Park in the west side of the city and has easy access to the city’s innumerable multicultural, entertainment and international sporting events.
A unique collaboration to AUAS’s ISMB program is the launch of the Access, Equity and Identity in Sport (AEIS) Research Program. This program has already won a research grant from the International Olympic Committee and is being featured in a Dutch sport newsletter. The STHM exchange program is for Undergraduate students who wish to study abroad for a short duration (as little as 1-week) or up to 2 semesters. For AUAS students, an opportunity to complete a 3.5/1.5 dual bachelor’s/master’s degree exists.
Hong Kong Polytechnic University – Hong Kong PRC
Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) is located in Kowloon, Hong Kong, which is in the northern region of the city and is home to vibrant shopping, arts and entertainment districts.

As one of the world’s most densely populated metropolises, Hong Kong is known for its skyline and deep natural harbor. Hong Kong’s many industries are leaders in their fields, including economic, telecommunication, technology, transportation, tourism and entertainment.
Since its founding 35 years ago, the SHTM has become one of the largest hospitality and tourism schools in Asia and in the world. In 2009, the school was globally ranked No. 2 in research and scholarship.
SHTM currently serves over 2,100 students and offers programs in:

A unique draw to the school is their ownership of the “Hotel ICON”, a full-service hotel which doubles as a teaching and research facility with 262 rooms and three restaurants.

If a student chooses to study abroad for a full year, the first semester they pay Temple University tuition and the second semester they pay Hong Kong Polytechnic University tuition. Financial aid can be used to pay both semesters.
Kyung Hee University – Seoul, Korea
The university’s College of Hotel and Tourism Management offers tourism and hospitality programs at every level, with several concentrations available at the undergraduate level.
Kyung Hee University is located in Seoul, the capital and largest metropolis of South Korea. Seoul is a leading global city, as well, ranking fourth in metropolitan economy and first in technology readiness. It’s home to unique attractions, such as the world’s best airport, the tallest skyscraper, the world’s largest cinema screen and the world’s largest underground shopping mall. In 2014, Seoul was the ninth most visited city and fourth largest earner in tourism, welcoming over 10 million international visitors.
The university’s College of Hotel and Tourism Management offers tourism and hospitality programs at every level, with several concentrations available at the undergraduate level.
In the School of Hospitality Management, concentrations are available in the following areas:

Within each curricula, competitive programs are also offered such as local and overseas internship opportunities, oversea studies scholarships, contests and a joint-degree system with overseas universities.
The school also offers a Tourism Master’s Degree and a Tourism Doctoral Degree. Leed’s Beckett University – Leeds, UK
Leed’s Beckett University is located in Headingley, a suburb of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England. It is approximately two miles outside of the City Centre.

Headingley is notable for housing Headingley Stadium, which is home to both Cricket and Rugby teams. The area has a large student population and the city has taken the opportunity to generate revenue by developing a university district.
The Tourism and Hospitality program at the university offers a variety of major options including:

At the graduate level, study includes:

One of the school’s noteworthy facts is it was the first university in the UK to be recognized as a “Centre of Excellence” by the Institute of Travel and Tourism. The Leed’s Tourism program also provides students with a year of industry exposure in which they can choose to study abroad and focus on a specialty in the travel and tourism field.

Leed’s Beckett has a sport program where the focus is on Sport and Social Sciences. The topics include how we can use sport to challenge the inequities faced by different groups in society today.

Modul University – Vienna, Austria
Modul University is viewed as the country’s leading international private university and is owned by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. Modul offers a multitude of programs and degrees to study.

The Department of Tourism and Service Management focuses on providing students with an intensive background in management and leadership skills that will benefit them in international careers within the hospitality and tourism industry. The department is also known for its diverse areas of research study including policy evaluation, perspectives on tourism demand, entrepreneurial challenges in fast-changing environments and destination competitiveness and development.
Vienna is one of the nine states of Austria and is also the country’s capital and largest city. Vienna is known for its strong ties in art, music, culture and history.

Shenzhen Tourism College of Jinan University – Shenzhen, PRC
This exchange program is for undergraduate students, graduate students, doctoral students and faculty who want to study or do research for 1-2 semesters.
Shenzhen Tourism College of Jinan University (SZTC), is located in China’s famous tourist and cultural city of Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town in Shenzhen, Jinan University is sponsoring the base, is the territory of the first through the World Tourism Organization, Tourism Education Quality Certification Institute of Tourism, Tourism Management major is Guangdong Province famous professional school.
College was formerly known as “Travel College of Jinan University,” in February 1993, the State Board of Education approved the establishment of the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town. The school officially opened in 1996, set up tourism management professional, teacher in-service teachers from the School of Jinan University teachers and hired well-known domestic tourism business executives and well-known domestic and foreign experts.
The school offers degrees in:

- Tourism Management (Tourism Planning & Development)
- e-Commerce
SZTC has the Golf, Sports and Leisure Industry Research Center, Tourism Development Research Center, among others. The school also added an English Department in 2001 to assist with its international tourism program.

University of Alicante – Alicante Spain
The school’s campus is an ideal setting home to 27,500 students and known for its architecture, green areas and sculptures. Some UA building have won relevant architecture awards in recent years.
The University of Alicante (UA) is located on the outskirts of the port city of Alicante, Spain in the southeastern portion of the country. The university is the fourth most populous province in Spain, just 6 km from the Mediterranean Sea. The area enjoys mild winter temperatures and hot summers, making it known for its massive tourism sector. Hundreds of thousands of tourists from across Europe visit the province, especially the beaches of Costa Blanca, each year. An interesting issue plaguing the sector currently is climate change.

Financial aid can be used to pay both semesters.
University of Bayreuth – Bayreuth, Germany
The University of Bayreuth offers a variety of Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees in Sport, Business and Law and MBA in Sport Management and Sport Law.
The city of Bayreuth has a rich cultural and historical heritage to preserve. Over the past few decades the city has developed a diverse collection of museums and is home to more than two-dozen ‘Top-Class’ facilities (5-star hotels). Bayreuth is also known for some of the most beautifully preserved Baroque Theatres in Europe, one of which features the Margravial Opera House. Numerous musical and theatrical festivals take place each year and provide wonderful cultural experiences for students.
The University of Bayreuth offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees in Sport, Business and Law and MBA in Sport Management and Sport Law.
These programs focus on concentrations in internationalism, cooperation, innovation and networking. The EASM School is a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to enrich their degree with new insights in the field of International Sport Marketing. Participants have the chance to build up their own international network within the sport business and to make new friends from all over the world.

Financial aid can be used to pay both semesters. EASM Summer School requires students to pay the organization directly.
