Internship I is a minimum of 180 hours over the course of one semester (15 weeks fall/spring semesters; 12 weeks summer semester) and worth 3 academic credits.
To be eligible to participate in Internship I (STHM 3185), students must meet the following criteria:
Successful Completion of STHM 2001: Students must have successfully completed the STHM 2001 – Career Seminar and Development course. This foundational course equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the internship search process and excel in a professional setting.
Minimum Credit Completion: Students must have earned at least 60 credits before the start of the internship semester (fall, spring, or summer). This ensures students possess a strong academic foundation before embarking on their practical internship experience.
Internship I Onboarding: Students must attend the mandatory Internship I (STHM 3185) onboarding session. This session provides crucial information about internship expectations, search strategies, and successful completion of required paperwork. All required paperwork must be submitted before the designated semester deadline to receive program approval.

Internship II (STHM 4185) Culminating Internship Experience for STHM Students Internship II serves as the capstone experience and final academic requirement for all Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management (STHM) students before graduation. This intensive internship allows students to:

Internship Structure and Requirements
Duration: Internship II is a full-time, semester-long program requiring a minimum of:
600 hours over 15 weeks during the fall or spring semesters.
480 hours over 12 weeks during the summer semester.
Student Selection: Students will select an internship that aligns with their specific career goals and interests.
Internship II is designed to be a singular, intensive experience allowing students to fully immerse themselves in a professional setting. To ensure maximum focus and benefit from the program, the following eligibility requirements apply:
Good Academic Standing: Students must maintain a good academic standing throughout their program, with a minimum overall GPA of 2.00.
Major Course Completion: All major coursework within the Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management (STHM) program must be completed prior to enrolling in Internship II.
Limited Coursework During Internship II (Special Permission Required)
In exceptional circumstances, students may be granted permission to take a maximum of one additional course alongside Internship II. Prior approval is mandatory and requires consultation with both the STHM Center for Industry Engagement (CIE) and Center for Student Services (CSS) advisors. This approval process is designed to ensure the additional course will not impede success in the demanding Internship II program.
