Two STHM undergraduates receive scholarships from Network of Executive Women in Hospitality

The Network of Executive Women in Hospitality (NEWH) has awarded $5,000 scholarships to two students from Temple University’s School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM).
Each year, NEWH regional chapters award scholarships to college students who have professional aspirations of entering the hospitality industry. The organization, which was founded in 1984, has awarded nearly $4.5 million in academic scholarships to date.
STHM’S Victoria Cuccurullo and Joshua Feinberg received the 2016 NEWH Atlantic City/Philadelphia Chapter Scholarships. The students earned recognition Dec. 1 and the organization’s Strut Your Stuff event at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer Music Hall. Cuccurullo and Feinberg represent the third and fourth STHM students to receive this scholarship over the last three years.
Cuccurullo, a Garnet Valley, Pa., native, is a junior Tourism and Hospitality Management major who will graduate in May 2018. Her passion for hospitality stems from her work as an Owl Team Leader at Temple University, through which she shows the campus to newly admitted students. She also works daily as a STHM Ambassador with the school’s Center for Student Services.
Professionally, Cuccurullo has worked with Live Nation Entertainment as a production intern. This role enabled her to opportunities with the Philadelphia-based Made in America music festival and the Jack Daniels Neighborhood Flavors music event. In the Spring 2017 semester, she will study abroad at Temple’s campus in Rome, Italy.

“Being recognized by NEWH has been humbling,” Cuccurullo said. “With a heavy course load and continuous involvement inside and outside of Temple, it is a relief to know that hard work does pay off. This scholarship has shown me to keep pushing myself daily, and continue to accept new opportunities.”
Feinberg, a West Long Branch, N.J., native, is a senior Tourism and Hospitality Management major. He will graduate in May 2018, after also completing his studies toward a Master of Tourism and Hospitality Management degree. He hopes to work professionally as a regional guest relations manager.
He has held internship positions with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association, Comfort Suites Hotels, and Marriott Hotels. Feinberg will serve in a loss-prevention internship role at the Marriott Grande Ocean property in Hilton Head, S.C., during the Spring 2017 semester.
“Being recognized with the NEWH Scholarship is a great honor for me and will definitely help me stay focused on my professional goals outside of college instead of worrying about any financial burdens,” Feinberg said.
