Students have many reasons for transferring to Temple—whether participating in the Dual Admissions program or looking for a different college experience, we welcome you here.

This guide will answer your questions about all things transfer to Temple and the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM)!

Will I be the only transfer student?

About 23% of STHM’s undergraduate population are transfers! You will become part of the fabric of STHM and Temple.

Interested in transferring to Temple for fall 2024?

The application deadline for fall 2024 is June 1. More details are next!

How do I apply and what is needed for the application process?

Temple exclusively uses the Common Application for all transfer student submissions. You will also need to send your transcript from your current institution. Get all of the essential application details.

Am I eligible for scholarships?

New transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of admission are considered for academic scholarships. There is no separate application required.

When do I register for classes?

Once you complete your Next Steps, the last step will be to attend orientation. Temple hosts an orientation just for transfer students! At this virtual Transfer Orientation, you will meet new people, learn how to get involved on campus and register for courses.

What courses/credits will transfer from my current school?

The Transfer Equivalency Tool helps current and prospective transfer students determine how their college-level academic credits may transfer to Temple. Prospective STHM transfer students can also reach out to Heather Blackburn, STHM assistant dean, for a more thorough understanding of their credit standing.

I’m concerned about fitting in. How will I find my crowd?

STHM offers many Student Professional Organizations to integrate you with like-minded students. These organizations also provide recruiting, networking, social and team-building events.

Also, get involved beyond STHM. The university has hundreds of student organizations ranging in interest from fraternities and sororities, Big Brothers Big Sisters, to African dance and drumming. Explore!

How can I connect with other transfer students before I arrive on campus?

We encourage you to join the Temple Transfer Facebook Group.

Are there special transfer support services?

Yes! The Transfer Mentor Program is designed to facilitate your successful transition to campus. Transfer students are matched with a Transfer Ambassador, a current student who transferred to Temple who will help you find your place here on campus. The program includes one-on-one meetings with your mentor and monthly social opportunities with other Temple transfers.

Can I still study abroad as a transfer student?

Absolutely! Study abroad opportunities are open to transfer students. If you can’t commit to an entire semester, consider a Global Immersion Program. Global Immersions are only a week to 10 days. Grant funding is available for Immersion Programs, if you qualify. Recent STHM immersion trips included studying food, tourism and culture in Morocco and Irish sport and culture. The next immersion program is planned as a service trip to work at the Paralympic Games in Paris in August 2024!
