Class of 2029: Here’s 29+ reasons current students chose STHM

We decided to help the incoming class of 2029 with 29+ reasons why current students made the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) and Temple University their college choice.

It’s college decision season and high school seniors are narrowing down the school that’s the best fit for them.

We decided to help the incoming class of 2029 with 29+ reasons why current students made the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) and Temple University their college choice.

Whether they are first-year students or getting ready to graduate, here’s what they had to say:

STHM helped me see that my future in the industry looks extremely bright.

Temple had the best program that most aligned with my goals and allowed me to remain close to home.

STHM stood out because of its reputation for providing a top-tier education.

As a student-athlete, STHM offered me that place where I can gain a strong foundation for a future in business and develop my skills on the field, too.

Professors create a family-like atmosphere to the point where I have great conversations with any of them in and outside of the classroom.

Majoring in sports and recreation management is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I wanted the chance to engage in something I feel is extremely valuable…experiential learning.

I had the incredible opportunity to travel abroad to Morocco with Temple students and staff. This experience not only deepened my appreciation for the world, but it also introduced me to Temple’s vibrant and enriching community.

I chose hospitality and tourism because I wanted a challenge.

The faculty provide great insight on all the topics they teach.

My dream is to own a hotel, so I chose to study something that I’m passionate about.

STHM provides many opportunities beyond the classroom. I am a STHM student ambassador, PGA Championship Tour volunteer—and I have an industry hours opportunity with Salamander Resorts this summer.

I’ve met so many great alumni and have had access to various guest speakers and job opportunities just by being at STHM.

Being a STHM student has opened my eyes to a different world.

I am #STHMProud.

Coming from Maryland, Temple offered the most. It was located in the sport hub of Philadelphia which provides me with endless options and experiences.

When I decided to come to Temple, I saw how welcoming everyone was and how much they loved what they did—which made me want to be an STHM student.

I chose Temple because it was one of the only schools with the major (tourism, hospitality and event management) I really wanted.

The sport and event management major experience at STHM has been so enjoyable—I am grateful for the small ratio of professors and students, and how it allows me to really build relationships with my classmates.

I was interested in learning more about how big corporate events are put together.

Temple has a great reputation in the tourism and hospitality field, and the tourism, hospitality and event management major offers everything I’m interested in studying.

I chose to attend the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management due to my love of being in the city.

STHM does a fantastic job for us as students in providing us with a path to gain knowledge and education for our career paths ahead

I chose STHM because of the networking experiences.

STHM prepared me to improve the sport and recreation opportunities for individuals around the world—an important element of that is making sure everyone has the right equipment and tools to participate.

STHM and Temple provided me with the chance to complete a semester abroad in Rome — and supported my sustainable initiative to improve the sport and recreation opportunities for individuals around the world.

I have enjoyed working with my female professors, as they have offered their expertise on the experience of women working in the sports industry.

I chose STHM because I was sold on the programs that Temple has to offer and the many connections and opportunities that come with the program.

Selecting Temple University was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my young adult life.
