Meet the New STHM Faculty

Join us in welcoming two new members to the STHM family, Professor Amy Giddings and Professor Caroline Hefferan.

 

This year, we are pleased to welcome two new faculty members to the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM). These new faculty members will be teaching in our classrooms, leading our research and forging partnerships across the community.

 

AMY GIDDINGS

Associate Professor of Instruction

Sport and Recreation Management

 

Dr. Amy Giddings joins the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM)  as Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Sport and Recreation Management and Academic Director of the Master of Science in Sport Business program.

Dr. Giddings previously taught at Drexel University where she served on the faculty since 2006. There she worked in the Sport Management department and founded the online Master of Science in Sport Coaching Leadership program.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Religious Studies from the University of Dayton, Dr. Giddings attained a Master of Education in Sport and Recreation Management from STHM where she also competed as a competitive rower. Giddings received her PhD in Sport Psychology from the College of Health Professionals.

 

 

CAROLINE HEFFERNAN

Assistant Professor of Instruction

Sport and Recreation Management

 

Dr. Caroline Heffernan is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Sport and Recreation Management.

Prior to coming to STHM, Dr. Heffernan successfully defended her doctoral dissertation on the application allyship to gender in sports organizations at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Her research work specializes in allyship in sport, gender in sport leadership and leadership. Dr. Heffernan’s work has been published in Sport Management Review.

Dr. Heffernan earned her PhD in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Sport Management from the University of Minnesota and attained a Master of Science in Sport and Recreation Management from STHM. Dr. Heffernan received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College.
