“We are proud that our Sport and Recreation Management program has been distinguished as the best in the nation,” said Dr. Elizabeth Barber, Associate Dean of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. “This is a tremendous achievement and speaks to the quality of our faculty, students, programs and curriculum.”

Sports-Management-Degrees.com ranked qualifying programs in a variety of arenas: accreditation and reputation; location; sports franchises based in the surrounding area; internship and networking potential; the level of degree afforded; tuition expenses; and student-to-teacher ratio.

The rankings report lauded STHM’s Sport and Recreation Management program for its experiential learning opportunities and two-internships, which requires 180- and 600-hour commitments, respectively.

The Sport and Recreation Management program at STHM is one of the nation’s longest-running and most-distinguished programs of its kind, producing future leaders in the sport-, recreation- and leisure-management industries. The School has worked closely with industry leaders, top executives and its distinguished faculty to develop rigorous, cutting-edge curriculum for such a distinctly unique program.

Also, STHM is home to the Sport Industry Research Center (SIRC), which provides opportunities for academics, students and practitioners to explore the potential of sport’s impact on communities. Through a series of initiatives, SIRC conducts and disseminates research, educates and trains executives and functions as a think tank and informational resource for those involved in the sport industry.
