Proceeds from the Sept. 28 event benefit charities responding to the Ebola outbreak
PHILADELPHIA – Michael Lahoud, a midfielder for the Philadelphia Union and Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management have partnered to host the #KickEbolaInTheButt Kick-Off Event, to be held Sunday, September 28, from 2-4 p.m., at Temple University.
This month, Union midfielder Michael Lahoud and School of Tourism and Hospitality professor Thilo Kunkel kick-started the #KickEbolaInTheButt Challenge. (Using viral videos to help combat the Ebola virus, the Challenge involves two things: a lightly inflated ball being kicked at a participant’s backside and a charitable donation.)
Activities for the September 28 event include:
- The #KickEbolaInTheButt Challenge. (Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag when posting their videos to social media.)
- A meet-and-greet with the Philadelphia Union players Michael Lahoud, defender Amobi Okugo and goalkeeper Andre Blake
- A ball-juggling contest for a chance to win autographed merchandise.
Admission to the event is free, though donations are strongly encouraged. All proceeds from the event will go to charities that support the fight against Ebola.
The current Ebola outbreak, designated a “public health emergency of international concern” by the World Health Organization, has claimed more than 2,100 lives in five West African nations – including Lahoud’s home country of Sierra Leone.
