The Marie Baker Brown scholarship provides funds to juniors and seniors studying Tourism and Hospitality Management at the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) who best exemplify the spirit of hospitality and devotion to the industry as displayed by Marie Baker Brown.
About Marie Baker Brown
Marie Baker Brown, a beautiful woman inside and out, lost her four year battle with breast cancer on September 17, 2006. Her love for her son, contagious energy and sincerity will be remembered and missed by all. Marie joined the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) in 1985. Her credits at the PHLCVB include producing elements for the celebration of the Bicentennial Pennsylvania Convention Center opening and the 2000 Republican National Convention, just to name a few.Marie was a special friend to so many and the PHLCVB is proud to partner with the Temple University School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management to create an endowment in her name. The PHLCVB has made generous contributions toward the endowment so that each year a scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates Marie’s spirit of hospitality.
