Qu Xiao

Associate Professor and Program Leader of Doctor of Hotel and Tourism Management (China) Program at School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Dr. Qu Xiao is an Associate Professor and the Program Leader of the Doctor of Hotel and Tourism Management (China) Program at School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He specializes in teaching and researching in strategic management, hotel development, and hospitality innovations. Previously, Dr Xiao was an instructor at the School of Hospitality Management at The Pennsylvania State University. Prior to becoming an academic, Dr. Xiao held various management and operational positions with major U.S. hotel chains such as Hilton, IHG, Marriott and ESA. He had also worked for Mobile Travel Guide as well as hospitality consulting firms in the U.S., where he conducted a number of projects related to hotel investment, branding strategies, management contract negotiations, and strategic alliance formation. Prior to his hotel experience in the U.S., Dr. Xiao was a journalist of China Tourism News. Dr. Xiao holds a BA in Chinese Language and Literature from Beijng Normal University, a Master of Hospitality Management from the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at University of Houston, and a Ph.D. in Hospitality Management from The Pennsylvania State University.
