Huayong Ge

Mr. Huayong Ge joined UnionPay in 2014. Currently, he is the Chairman of UnionPay International.

Prior to working for UnionPay, Mr. Ge was an experienced central banker and had worked in international organizations for many years. He has served successively as Deputy Director-General of PBOC’s International Department, Chief Representative of the PBOC Americas Office, and Director-General of PBOC’s International Department. From 2003 to 2009, he represented China as Alternate Executive Director, and then as Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund. From 2009 to 2014, he served as Director-General of PBOC’s Personnel Department. He was the Chairman of China UnionPay from 2014 to 2018.
In October, 2017, the World Tourism Organization appointed Mr. Ge as Special Ambassador of Tourism and the Sustainable Development Goal.
