What does it mean to you to be a student-athlete at the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management?

Being a student-athlete at STHM has been a very rewarding journey—representing both my university and specific school on the field brings me a lot of pride. The last few years have definitely helped me grow a lot as I’ve learned how to balance both academics and athletics at the same time. The football program really values the ideas of hard work and leadership, which is what I try to bring to the classroom and field every day.

What was your decision process like when choosing to attend Temple?

I wanted to pursue my future at an institution that could blend both my goals in academics and athletics. I am grateful that STHM has offered me that place where I can gain a strong foundation for a future in business and develop my skills on the field, too. When I realized how much support STHM offered to their student-athletes, I knew I made the right decision to attend here and really felt confident in my ability to thrive both on and off the field.

How has the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management supported your pursuits as a student-athlete?

The support from STHM has always been exceptional, especially seen through the efforts of our professors and advisors—they make it known that they understand the demands of student-athletes. My professors realize that we are juggling a lot, and while they definitely hold us accountable, they are also understanding, which goes a long way and motivates me to maintain a high standard for my work. I am thankful for all the resources that we have available to us that allow us to be successful both on and off the field.

How will your student-athlete experience benefit you beyond your time at Temple?

I know that my student-athlete experience will help me in so many ways beyond graduation! I have already been fortunate enough to make connections with many of my peers but also professionals within both the sports and business industries. STHM helps you build a strong support system and really pushes you to attend networking events and pursue mentorship opportunities. This has given me a great insight into what my career, beyond athletics, can look like for myself.

What would you say to a prospective student-athlete who is considering coming to Temple?

I would tell any perspective student that Temple can offer you the full package in terms of an academic and athletic experience. In my specific experience at STHM, the school provides you with an education that prepares you for a career beyond your pursuits of athletics. On the other hand, my athletic experience has given me a way to showcase my athletic abilities on a big stage—the support you receive from coaches, professors and staff truly set you up for success in both arenas.

What academic goals do you have for this year?

My goals for this academic year is continuing to develop as a leader both on and off the field for my team and focus on maintaining my GPA—I am very focused on positioning myself for success post-graduation and pursuing an NFL playing career. Right now, I am also looking to grow my internship experiences and continue building connections that will benefit me beyond my time playing on the field!
