Ira G. Shapiro Scholarship Fund
Dr. Ira G. Shapiro reacts to the announcement at Fifteen of a scholarship created in honor of him at STHM.
Dr. Shapiro has taught at Temple University since 1970 and has been a tremendous educator and mentor for countless students. Over the summer, STHM alumni formed a committee to create this scholarship and have been actively fundraising to reach the $25,000 goal. Once this goal is reached, STHM will match those donations to meet the $50,000 necessary for a scholarship to be endowed. Although Dr. Shapiro officially retired in June 2010, he has continued to teach at STHM on a part-time basis. However, this Spring Semester will be his last semester teaching at Temple. Reaching this fundraising goal and endowing this scholarship would be a wonderful sendoff to Dr. Shapiro to thank him for all of his years of service and for all of the lives he has enriched.
