STHM Student Nicole Bizuga Receives 2009 PRPS Delores M. Andy Scholarship Award
School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) student, Nicole Bizuga, was selected as the recipient of the 2009 PRPS Delores M. Andy Scholarship Award to attend the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society Annual Conference held in March at the Hershey Resort & Conference Center. The scholarship honors the significant work of Professor Andy, a former faculty member at Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, who also served as the Commissioner of Recreation for the City of Philadelphia under Mayor W. Wilson Goode. Professor Andy exemplified the spirit of public service and mentored countless Temple students in her long tenure at the university.
Professor Ted Tedrick, in writing Nicole’s recommendation, noted her “selfless spirit” in promoting activities of the STHM student organizations and her ability to “bring out the best in others.” Nicole was a perfect match for this scholarship which focuses on service ideals. Nicole made many professional contacts at the conference and is now in the process of exploring sites for her senior internship. Her good works reflect the spirit of assisting others – a core value of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
