Temple University Commencement

The first ceremony being held in the Liacouras Center is Temple University's 126th Commencement Exercises at 10:00 AM. This ceremony includes graduates from the entire University. The University Commencement lasts approximately 90 minutes.

The Liacouras Center will open at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Commencement. Graduates must report to the loading dock entrance (on Broad Street near Cecil B. Moore Avenue) by 8:45 AM in academic regalia and maintain single file lines behind their college banners.

Please note that balloons will not be permitted in the Liacouras Center.

University Balloon Arches

Red and white balloon arches will be available at the following locations for family gathering/pictures: Founder's Garden, between 13th Street and Liacouras Walk; Bell Tower on Polett Walk, between 12th and 13th Streets; Park Mall, between Cecil B. Moore Avenue and Montgomery Street.

Additional information  for graduates can be found on the University's Commencement website at http://www.temple.edu/commencement/.

The School of Tourism & Hospitality Management/Fox School of Business Graduation Ceremony

The second ceremony is the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management/Fox School of Business Graduation Ceremony being held at 4:00 PM in the Liacouras Center. This ceremony includes only graduates from the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management and the Fox School of Business. The Graduation Ceremony lasts approximately 1-1/2 to 2 hours, depending on the number of graduates in attendance.

Graduates must report to the loading dock area of the Liacouras Center by 3:00 PM to sign in and line up for the ceremony.

At this ceremony, each graduate is recognized individually by the Dean and Associate Dean as he or she is called on stage. A professional photographer from Legacy Photographics will be present to record this important moment of the graduate's life.

Can I get a copy of this photo?
The photographer will mail a complimentary proof directly to the address provided on your graduation application with information about purchasing additional prints.

TICKETS

Do I need tickets to attend?
Tickets are required for each guest who will be attending the morning University Commencement Exercises. (Participating graduates do not require a ticket.) Eligible graduates are entitled to receive four (4) University Commencement tickets, which need to be ordered between March 1st and March 30th, 2013.

Tickets are NOT required for the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management/Fox School of Business Graduation Ceremony at 4:00 PM. There is no limit to the number of family and friends who can attend this ceremony.

How do I order tickets for Commencement?

All graduates must register for their University Commencement tickets through the University's Commencement website between March 1st and March 30th, 2013.

Students can pick up their University Commencement tickets between April 22nd and April 26th, in Room 111 Speakman Hall, between 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Any tickets not picked up by April 26th will be subject to redistribution. NO TICKETS WILL BE MAILED.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When graduates register for tickets to the University Commencement Exercises, they will also be prompted to register for tickets to the STHM/FSBM Graduation Ceremony. Please keep in mind that a "ticket" is not required for the STHM/FSBM Graduation Ceremony and graduates may bring as many guests as they wish. Entering the number of guests you will have in the ticket area is our way of determining how many guests will be attending the ceremony.

RSVP for ceremonies

Do I have to RSVP?

Yes. All graduates must RSVP through the University ticket registration website, even if they are not attending one or both of the ceremonies. For example, if a graduate plans to attend only the afternoon School ceremony, he or she should indicate that no tickets are requested for the morning University Commencement Ceremony, and then fill in the appropriate information for the afternoon School ceremony when prompted, and vice versa.

All graduates must also RSVP for the afternoon School ceremony on the STHM website at http://sthm.temple.edu/graduation/reservation.php.

RSVP for sthm reception

All graduates must RSVP for the STHM Reception following the STHM/FSBM Graduation Ceremony at http://sthm.temple.edu/graduation/reservation.php by April 26th.

REGALIA

Graduates are required to wear academic regalia (cap, gown, and hood) to participate in both the University Commencement and the STHM/FSBM Graduation Ceremony. Visit the bookstore's website for ordering information. The site will be available for a limited time.

The regalia can be shipped to the graduate's home for a fee, or to the bookstore for in-store pick up free of charge (please check the website for deadline dates). Academic regalia can also be purchased in person at the Main Campus Bookstore. It is important that students arrive on campus having pre-purchased their regalia for graduation day.

Prices for the complete regalia package are as follows and subject to change: Bachelor's - $63.98, Master's - $69.98, Doctoral - $83.98.

Please be sure to purchase the appropriate regalia.  The regalia are specific to the degree the student is receiving, not to the school or college he or she has attended:

PARKING

The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management has been assigned to the new Montgomery garage on 11th Street and Montgomery Avenue for Commencement Day. All cars should enter the garage on 11th Street.

Each graduate will receive one free parking pass that must be picked up in Room 111, Speakman Hall, between 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM beginning on April 22nd.

There will be no drop off or pick up in front of the Liacouras Center on Broad Street.

Handicapped parking spaces are available on every level of the garages.

The Parking Shuttle Bus map can be found at http://www.temple.edu/commencement/documents/commencement-parking-2013.pdf.

Graduates should keep in mind that they will be dealing with rush-hour traffic on the way in and that traffic will be extremely heavy on and around campus. Please allow plenty of time to get here, park, and sign in for the ceremonies.

University Commencement ANNOUNCEMENTS

University Commencement announcements are small commemorative documents announcing the details of the ceremony.  Eligible graduates will receive four University Commencement Exercises announcements. Announcements can be picked up in Room 111, Speakman Hall, beginning on April 22nd.

DIPLOMAS

Diplomas will be mailed to the address listed on the graduation application within 8 weeks of graduation to all academically cleared students. Diplomas will not be released to students who owe the University money or library books, to those who have not completed exit paperwork if required, or to those who have "financial holds.” Students should resolve such matters prior to graduation and contact the School in order to receive their diplomas on time. Address information should be updated with the School and in OWLnet if graduates expect a change before graduation.

Diploma frames can be ordered through the University Bookstore.

Latin Honors

The University has changed the criteria for graduating with Latin Honors, effective May 2009.

UNDERGRADUATE YEARBOOKS

All undergraduate students who are graduating are entitled to receive a yearbook. Yearbooks are available from the School in May 2013. For information about the yearbook and yearbook photos, please visit the Templar website.

Senior Portraits

Temple University sent out an email several months ago regarding Senior Portraits for the 2013 Templar yearbook. Although the deadline is passed, students can still make an appointment to have their portraits taken for personal use. Please contact a representative at www.ouryear.com by calling 1-800-687-9327 to set up an appointment. Temple's school code is 87120.

August graduates

Students who intend to walk in the May 2013 graduation ceremonies and graduate in August 2013 must have no more than two courses (i.e., no more than 8 semester hours) remaining after Spring 2013 to complete their degrees.  These students can petition to walk by submitting the Temple University Petition for Non-Graduates to Attend University Commencement and/or School Graduation Ceremonies. This petition must be submitted by February 15, 2013. Late petitions will not be accepted.
