Frequently Asked Questions

Where Do I RSVP For The Ceremonies And Reception?

Do I have to RSVP?

Yes.  All graduates MUST RSVP on both the University Commencement ticket website, as well as the STHM RSVP site on the dates listed below.

The University Commencement ticket website can be found at http://www.temple.edu/commencement/graduates/tickets.html and is available from February 20 through March 23, 2017.

All graduates must also RSVP for the afternoon School ceremony on the STHM website at http://sthm.temple.edu/graduation/graduation-dates/may/rsvp-for-ceremonies/.  The RSVP site will be available through April 19, 2017.

All graduates must RSVP through the University ticket registration website, even if they are not attending one or both of the ceremonies. For example, if a graduate plans to attend only the afternoon School ceremony, he or she should indicate that no tickets are requested for the morning University Commencement Ceremony, and then fill in the appropriate information for the afternoon School ceremony when prompted, and vice versa.

Graduates who are eligible for Latin Honors will be prompted to RSVP to the Honors Convocation Ceremony, being held on Wednesday, May 10.  Each graduate can reserve two tickets to this ceremony.  Additional information will be sent to these students directly from the Office of Institutional Advancement: Special Events Administration.

How Do I Order My Cap And Gown?

Graduates are required to wear academic regalia (cap, gown, and hood) to participate in both the University Commencement and the STHM/FSBM Graduation Ceremonies. Visit the bookstore’s website to order or click here for details.

Please be sure to purchase the appropriate regalia. The regalia are specific to the degree the student is receiving, not to the school or college he or she has attended:

  • All undergraduate students in STHM receive the Bachelor of Science Degree (tassel and velvet hood color are yellow-gold).
  • Graduate students in the Sport Business Program receive the Master of Science Degree (tassel and velvet color are yellow-gold).
  • Graduate students in the Tourism and Hospitality Management Program receive the Master of Tourism and Hospitality Management Degree (tassel and velvet hood color are crimson).

STHM has been assigned the Liacouras Garage (1710 N. 15th Street) and the Temple Towers Lot (1651 N. 13th Street) for Commencement and the Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, May 11th.  For the Graduate Graduation Ceremony, STHM has been assigned the Montgomery Garage (1859 N. 11th Street) and the Cecil B. Moore Lot (1223 Cecil B. Moore Avenue).  Information regarding the lots can be found here:  https://campusoperations.temple.edu/parking-transportation/garages-lots

Will I Receive A Yearbook? When And Where Do I Take My Yearbook Photo?

All undergraduate students who are graduating are entitled to receive a yearbook. Yearbooks are available from the School in May.

Temple University sends out emails regarding Senior Portraits for the Templar yearbook. Instructions are received starting in the summer prior to your graduating year. If you have not taken your senior portrait with Prestige by Lifetouch by December of your graduating year, you will not make the publication deadline to be in that year’s book. To contact Prestige, please call Scheduling Manager, Mary Ellen Dougherty at 1-800-334-1531, ext. 2190 or email her at mdougherty@lifetouch.com.

For information about the yearbook and yearbook photos, please visit the Templar website.

When Will I Receive My Diploma?

Diplomas will be mailed to the address listed on the graduation application within 8 weeks of graduation to all academically cleared students. Diplomas will not be released to students who owe the University money or library books, to those who have not completed exit paperwork if required, or to those who have “financial holds.” Students should resolve such matters prior to graduation and contact the School in order to receive their diplomas on time. Address information should be updated with the School and in Banner if graduates expect a change before graduation.

Diploma frames can be ordered through the University Bookstore.

Where Can I Pick Up The Ceremony Announcements?

University Commencement announcements and Graduation Ceremony announcements are commemorative cards announcing the details of the ceremonies. Eligible graduates will receive four University Commencement Exercises announcements and four Graduation Ceremony announcements. Announcements can be picked up in Room 111, Speakman Hall from April 17 through April 21, from 9:30 AM through 4:30 PM.
