Hospitality Operations

The Hospitality Operations concentration is designed to introduce students to contemporary sectors of the hospitality industry in order to enhance their operational skills to be a highly effective operations manager.

The concentration welcomes those who have a degree in an unrelated field and have no, or minimal, experience in the tourism and hospitality industry. The diverse hospitality industry creates endless career possibilities beyond the traditional sectors of lodging and restaurant operations and welcomes career changers.

With a collective focus on providing service excellence, hospitality related businesses extend from small, independent operations to globally connected, multi-site operations that transcend geographical boundaries. The Hospitality Operations concentration addresses all of those industry specifics.

Students are encouraged to choose electives and an internship or project that focus on the development of their skills in an area of their interest. By graduation, students are prepared to segue seamlessly into working full-time in a management position for a hospitality organization.

Our flexible, 18-month schedule offers all courses after 5 p.m., allowing students to keep or take on full-time employment, or to pursue internships and assistantships during the day.

Students are required to complete an internship or project over the summer months. Students can, however, take courses at their own pace and design an individualized graduation plan with their advisor.
