The goal of the Master of Science (M.S.) in Sport and Recreation Management program at Temple University is to develop advanced professionals in the fields of professional sport, college athletics, recreation, and event and venue management. The program develops expert managers, marketers, and planners in the public, private, and commercial sectors of this very large and complex industry. By focusing not only on the practical application of management techniques, but also on the theoretical foundation that defines the profession, graduates will take a highly valued critical perspective into the field. This makes the degree program clearly distinct from generic management curricula that do not include an industry-specific core.
+ Curriculum
The Master of Science in Sport and Recreation Management curriculum is a 36-credit degree program. Coursework consists of three components:
- CORE (18 Credits): The Core courses of the M.S. in Sport and Recreation Management program establishes a theoretical foundation for considering and evaluating the major issues facing the management of sport and recreation organizations.

- SPORT AND RECREATION MANAGEMENT ELECTIVES (12 Credits): The Sport and Recreation Management electives allow master's students to develop a customized curriculum based on their interests and professional goals. In consultation with a faculty advisor, students choose 4 electives to develop and narrow their own area of focus.

- FOX SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ELECTIVES (6 Credits): Masters students in the Sport and Recreation Management program can choose elective courses in specific areas of interest from the Fox School of Business' MBA and M.S. programs. In consultation with a faculty advisor, these selections will allow the student to develop a specific area of expertise.

All courses in the Master of Science (M.S.) in Sport and Recreation Management are offered in the evening (after 4:30 PM). This allows graduate students to pursue opportunities for internships and employment during the day. See a typical full-time schedule below:
