STHM is the largest and most comprehensive school for tourism, hospitality, sport, recreation and leisure management talent in the Philadelphia region.
The STHM faculty is comprised of the most respected name in the sport, recreation, tourism and hospitality industries. In the Tourism/Hospitality program, many of our faculty members hold the Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) designation.
100% of our Sport and Recreation Management students get placed in hard-to-find internships at locations like major league sport facilities (including the Philadelphia Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, Flyers, KiXX and Soul) and at minor league sites (including the Camden Riversharks and the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs), in addition to other national sporting venues and teams.
100% of our Tourism and Hospitality Management students get placed in competitive, hands-on internships at sites like Walt Disney Word, the PA Convention Center, the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, the Starr Restaurant Organization, and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in addition to many other major local, regional, state and national tourism organizations.
The city of Philadelphia – the 5th largest city in the U.S. – offers STHM students a place to seek opportunity and have fun. A variety of applied learning opportunities are available through volunteer activities with the Philadelphia Film Festival, the Broad Street Run, the Mummers Parade, the Army-Navy game and other major city events.
STHM is home to about 700 students. But Temple University is home to nearly 19,000 undergraduate students. Students in STHM get the best of both worlds – personal attention in small classes on a campus that is vibrant, diverse and full of activity.
STHM students have access to all the resources of Temple University – the 28th largest university in the U.S. – like state-of-the-art facilities, access to one of the largest alumni networks in the U.S. and opportunities at Temple campuses in Tokyo and Rome or study-abroad programs in Austria, England and South Africa.
A unique internship program that requires all students to pursue at least two intensive internship experiences that allow them to build a resume and make connections with employers before graduation.
