A well-respected and nationally-recognized authority in tourism and hospitality research, Dr. Wesley S. Roehl joined Temple University's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management as the Director of the newly established Research Center in January 2000.

Dr. Roehl joined the Temple faculty after 12 years experience in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He received his Ph. D. in Recreation and Resource Development from Texas A&M University in 1988. He also has a B.A. from the College of New Jersey and a M.S. from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Dr. Roehl has also worked within the industry as a consultant on hotel and casino marketing projects.

While at UNLV, Dr. Roehl received the inaugural Ace Denken Distinguished Researcher Award from the UNLV College of Hotel Administration in 1995. Other awards have included the

Best Applied Paper Award, at the 1998 Society of Franchising Conference, awarded by the International Franchise Association Educational Foundation, Inc. and the Sam and Mary Boyd Distinguished Professor Award--Research, 1996-1997, awarded by UNLV's College of Hotel Administration.

Dr. Roehl has published in a variety of professional journals, including Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing, Tourism Recreation Research, Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Hospitality and Tourism Research Journal, Hospitality and Tourism Educator, The Journal of the International Association of Hospitality Accountants, Journal of Park and Recreation Administration, Coastal Management, and the Journal of Cultural Geography. He is on the Editorial Review board for the Journal of Travel Research and is a member of the Editorial Board for Pacific Tourism Review, Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing and Tourism Geographies.
