STHM Coursework Information for Non-Majors
The School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) recommends Non-Majors interested in either of our Bachelor Degree Programs, consider registering for the following courses (when available):

STHM 0827 Dimensions of Diversity: What’s Brewing in the Melting Pot? (3-credits)
This course fulfills the General Education Diversity and Race (GD) requirement.

STHM 0857 Sport and Leisure in American Society (3-credits)
This course fulfills the General Education U.S. Society (GU) requirement.

STHM 1113 Foundations of Leisure (4-credits)
Generally offered in the fall and spring semesters.

STHM 1211 Sport and Society (3-credits)
Generally offered in the fall and spring semesters.

STHM 1311 The Business of Tourism and Hospitality (3-credits)
Generally offered in the fall and spring semesters.

STHM 2114 Leisure and Tourism in a Diverse Society (3-credits)
Generally offered in summer semester I or II for Non-Majors.
This course is not available to Non-Majors in the fall or spring semesters.

STHM 3214 Marketing Management in Sport and Recreation (3-credits)
Generally offered in summer semester I or II for Non-Majors.
This course could be delivered in an online format.

Guidelines for STHM Non-Major Coursework

  • A request to proceed with a STHM course outside of the seven (7) listed on the right will not be supported by STHM Administration, Faculty, or Staff.
  • Non-Major students with a senior status at the university are not allowed to proceed with any of the courses highlighted above.
  • Non-major students may register for more than one of the seven courses simultaneously if available.
  • STHM students will take precedence over non-major students with regard to STHM required coursework and available seats.
  • Students who elect to proceed with STHM 0827 and/or 0857 should consult with an STHM Academic Advisor in reference to the course(s) applicability to their curriculum.
