Eligibility & Application Information
Admission to the 4+1 Accelerated Program is by invitation only. Students who are enrolled in an STHM undergraduate program and meet the following eligibility requirements will be contacted by the Center for Student Services with an invitation to apply.
To receive an invitation to apply, students must:
- Be enrolled in either the BS in Sport & Recreation Management or BS in Tourism & Hospitality Management program.
- Have a minimum of 45 credits but no more than 60 credits at Temple University
- Have a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA
Students will apply for the program in the spring of their sophomore year to the STHM graduate 4+1 program. Once a student is deemed eligible, an application will be provided to the student to be considered for entry to the 4+1 Accelerated Program. The application will include – 1) a written Statement of Goals, 2) Two reference letters: 1 from STHM faculty, 1 from Assistant Dean, 3) Successful personal interview with STHM Masters Committee and finally, 4) an interview with the program director (related to the degree program). This will all take place in the spring semester of the sophomore year. If admitted to the program, students will begin taking master’s coursework in their Junior year.
In the senior year, 4+1 students are required to complete the formal application to the Graduate School for admission into the graduate program for the fifth year. While admissions testing will be waived (i.e., GRE, GMAT, MAT), students will still need to provide all other application requirements. Once admitted to the graduate program, students will finish the remaining 24 credits of the master’s degree for year five.
