IFEA Names Temple University's Event Leadership Executive Certificate Program "Best in the World"

The International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) selected Temple University's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) Event Leadership Executive Certificate Program as the winner of its Haas Wilkerson Gold Pinnacle award for the best Event Management Certificate Education Program in the events industry worldwide.

Approximately, 300 institutions of higher education offer courses, certificates or degrees in events education worldwide.

"This honor is unique because it is the first time the award has been bestowed on an institution of higher education," said Joe Goldblatt, senior lecturer at Temple University's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management and the executive director of the event leadership program. "Temple has not only won wide acclaim for this program, but it also sets the mark that others must meet or exceed in the future," he added.

Temple's Event Leadership Executive Certificate Program includes courses in event solution processes, event outcomes, event sustainability, cooperative event leadership, entertainment and production, sponsorship and fundraising and other related areas.

"We’re proud that Dr. Goldblatt chose to join Temple University in 2004 and to produce this program, the only program in the world to include all six professional certification programs in the meetings and events industry," said Elizabeth Barber, associate dean of Temple's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The six certifications include Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Exposition Manager (CEM), Certified Festival and Event Executive (CFEE), Certified Professional Events Professional (CSEP), Certified Incentive Travel Executive (CITE) and Certified Meeting Manager (CMM).

Students in the program usually have three-to-seven years of industry experience. The faculty are seasoned professionals. They include producers of the Super Bowl Half-Time Spectaculars, Event hall of fame recipients and leaders in the events industry.
